Vice President

Firehouse is seeking a full-time vice president to join our rapidly growing public affairs firm.

Vice presidents at Firehouse play an integral role in managing the firm’s client engagements while working in a fun, collaborative, and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate for this position has 5-7 years of experience serving in communications roles on behalf of political candidates, members of Congress, presidential administrations, or political party organizations.

This position is based out of Firehouse’s Washington, D.C. office where team members work in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and remotely Monday and Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Work in coordination with the firm’s senior team to develop strategies and deliverables that achieve clients’ desired results and manage day-to-day communications with clients.
  • Leverage existing media relationships to successfully pitch and place earned media stories and opinion content, such as op-eds and letters to the editor, in national, Beltway, and state-based outlets.
  • Work alongside the firm’s political team in managing clients’ grassroots and grasstops advocacy campaigns.
  • Participate in pitches with prospective clients and craft proposals that successfully acquire new clients for the firm. 
  • Oversee work product produced by associates, project directors, and assistant vice presidents, and mentor assigned team members in their growth and success at the firm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience working in communications roles on behalf of political candidates, members of Congress, presidential administrations, or political party organizations
  • Proven ability to mentor, inspire, and lead team members to succeed
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate with team members
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to leverage existing media relationships to successfully pitch and place earned media stories and opinion content, such as op-eds and letters to the editor, in national, Beltway, and state-based media platforms
  • Experience operating Microsoft Office Suite platforms, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as social media platforms, such as X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook
