Senior Vice President

Matt is a seasoned political strategist with nearly 15 years of experience in communications, campaigns, and government affairs. He joins Firehouse Strategies from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration at the U.S. Department of Transportation under Secretary Sean Duffy, where he served as senior government affairs officer and director of communications.

Before that, Matt was a senior vice president at Actum, a global consulting firm specializing in government relations and public affairs. He also led public affairs efforts for renowned economist Stephen Moore at the Committee to Unleash Prosperity.

Earlier in his career, Matt served as senior major gifts officer at the American Cornerstone Institute, founded by Dr. Ben Carson, and as communications director for Rep. Jason Smith and the House Budget Committee, where he played a key role in elevating Rep. Smith’s national profile and shaping Republican messaging.

In 2016, he served as Wisconsin communications director for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. Matt has also held senior communications roles at the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), for former HUD Secretary Ben Carson, and for Rep. Sean Duffy.

Originally from Potomac, Maryland, Matt now lives in Arlington with his wife, Ticha, and their son, Davin.
