Since joining Firehouse shortly after its founding, Matt has helped shape the firm into one of the most innovative and respected agencies in modern communications strategy. As a partner and now Managing Partner, he has led campaigns that have influenced some of the most high-profile debates in Washington and across the country, building winning coalitions, mobilizing key audiences, and helping clients navigate high-stakes moments with precision and speed.
A veteran of national politics, Matt previously served as Chief of Staff for Senator Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign, where he oversaw one of the most competitive and closely watched primary campaigns of the 2016 cycle. He also served as Political Director for Rubio’s Reclaim America PAC, playing a central role in building the senator’s national political operation.
Matt went on to serve as a senior consultant to the Republican Party of Florida during the historic 2016 general election, when Donald Trump and Republicans down-ballot swept the state.
Earlier in his career, Matt worked at the Republican National Committee in Washington, D.C., where he served as Special Assistant to Chairman Reince Priebus after helping lead the successful campaign to elect Priebus chairman in 2011.
Matt was also a member of the Republican National Committee’s political team during the lead-up to the 2014 midterm elections, a red-wave year when Republicans successfully regained control of the U.S. Senate, increased their majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, and expanded governorships across the nation.
A Wisconsin native, Matt got his start in politics working for the Republican Party of Wisconsin during the 2008 election cycle. He is a graduate of Roosevelt University in Chicago.
Today, Matt is a frequent guest in national media, quoted and featured in outlets including CBS News, The New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post, CNN, Fox News, and others. He has also published commentary in numerous publications on politics, public affairs, and strategic communications.
